About my new book yet to be published
Bohr's Theory of hydrogen atom is very basic and beginning in the study of modern atomic structure. It described a model for the atom where it is assumed as a miniature solar system . The positively charged protons form a core called nucleus, the massive part of the atom and one or more negatively charged electrons revolving round the nucleus in various specific and non-radiating orbits. Bohr suggested the quantum aspect of physical properties of particles in microworld . Bohr's model works well for single electron system like hydrogen and hydrogen-like ions. It drastically fails in multiple electron system . The failure is due to the unaccountability of perturbation caused by the additional electrons. In this book a pragmatic analysis in the optimization of Bohr's Theory of hydrogen atom is described elaborately. An attempt is made to study the spectral feature of atoms with atomic number greater than that of hydrogen particularly helium and lithium . As an accomplishment it is approximated to suit with multi-electron systems. By proposing an ingenious technique called hyper ionization, the quantized energy levels of the orbital electrons are derived and applied in the case of helium and lithium. The energy radiated out in various electronic transitions and the corresponding wavelengths are derived and compared with the experimental data to ascertain the validity of the new technique.
The variation of ionization energy with respect to atomic number is discussed more elaborately. It explains the instability of negative hydrogen ion with two electrons in its innermost orbit.. Semi empirical formulae for the ionization energy of helium -like and lithium-like ions are derived and its exactness is verified by comparing with the available experimental data. I confide undoubtedly , this book will generate new panorama in the classical theory of atomic structure
